Chiling (Holdings) Limited, the ultimate parent company of the Chiling Group, has its origins in 1966 when Mr. C. L. Chan founded a small steel trading operation under the name Chiling & Company. By 1973, the group had expanded its operations and started a steel service centre in Kwai Chung, Hong Kong called Wan Lee Metal Works Limited.
After two decades of working closely with Mitsui & Co., Ltd. one of the largest Japanese trading firms, the relationship advanced a step further in 1990 when Mitsui & Co., Ltd. became a strategic equity investor in the Group.
In 1994, as China was opening its gates to foreign investment, the Group followed its customers north and relocated the Wan Lee steel service centre from Hong Kong to Shenzhen. This was the start of the Group¡¯s rapid expansion. A few years later, an architectural metals factory was established in Jiangmen. In 2002 the Group established a joint venture with a pressure vessel manufacturer to make Tank Containers in Zhongshan.
From its humble beginnings forty years ago the firm has grown to have operations in five different cities and a turnover of over a billion dollars annually. For more information on the five individual operations of the Group please see the respective webpages located under the Our Business/Operations tab. |
